Academic Prize:
To be presented to one or two individuals or organizations that have made outstanding achievements in the field of Asian studies such as the social and human sciences, contributing to the world's understanding of Asia, and whose great contributions are further expected in the future.
(Prize money: 3 million yen) |

Arts and Culture Prize: To be presented to one or two individuals or organizations that have made outstanding contribution to the cultivation and/or advancement of the unique and diverse arts and culture of Asia, and whose great contributions are further expected in the future. The term 'arts and culture' here implies a wide range of fields including the fine arts, literature, music, drama, dance, film, architecture, traditional and ethnic culture, and so forth.
(Prize money: 3 million yen) |

Grand Prize: To be presented to an individual or an organization in either the field of academics or arts and culture. The laureate must have made outstanding contributions to the preservation and creation of Asian unique and diverse cultures, and have exhibited the significance of Asian culture to the world through the internationality, universality, popularity and/or creativity of their work.

The term 'Asia' here implies areas including East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia
(any regions located to the east of Pakistan). |

Your nominations for those from the younger generation, who have made outstanding achievements in their respective fields and at the same time whose great contributions are further expected in the future, would be most welcomed. |

- Please nominate candidates for (1) and (2) respectively. The Grand Prize will be selected by the Fukuoka Prize Jury from among all the candidates nominated for (1) and (2).
- One nominator can make a maximum of 2 nominations for each category ((1) and (2)).
- Candidates that are nominated at this time will be considered for the Fukuoka Prize 2012 and 2013.
- Please fill in the attached nomination form in either English or Japanese.
- For your reference, our current nominators include below
- Faculty members of universities
- Members of academic societies and associations
- Representatives/members of art and cultural organizations
- Those in the news media, publishing businesses, etc.

- Nominators are expected to seek candidates not only within their home region, but also from abroad.
- Self-nomination is not permitted.

- All the documents submitted to the committee will not be returned to the nominators unless requested.
- As for the information on the nominees the committee shall keep its confidentiality.
- The committee will not respond to any inquiries during the selection process.
- Nominators are requested to keep their nominations confidential.
- The final results of the selection will be in June and the award ceremony is usually held in September.
- The final results of the selection will be sent to nominators.
